    group FRIENDLY

Our coaches know how joining a new club can be difficult and we’ll make sure you feel welcome.

Edinburgh Badminton Academy (EBA) was founded in 2013 with a humble beginning of just one summer camp attended by seven children. However, after that first camp, we quickly expanded and began running weekly junior sessions at the Crags Centre. Adult training followed shortly after, and before long, we were running sessions all over Edinburgh for players of all abilites, from complete beginners to junior national champions.

In 2019, EBA became a not-for-profit social enterprise, officially registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This means that any profit made by the club is reinvested directly back into the club to support its growth and development.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we remained committed to supporting our players and adapted to the changing circumstances by providing remote circuit sessions and developing our club website and booking systems. As soon as it was safe to do so, we reopened our doors and welcomed players back to the courts.

In 2022, we bounced back from the impact of COVID and expanded our offerings with over 20 new sessions. We also established a coach training and mentoring pathway that brings in modern sports coaching research, enabling our coaches to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and strategies to support our players.

As of 2023, EBA has grown even further and now boasts over 700 regular members and many pay-per-session players. We’ve also expanded our junior performance section and introduced new social badminton sessions designed for beginners to be welcomed to the sport, providing opportunities for all to learn and play badminton.

Our goal is to continue to grow and provide a supportive and inclusive badminton community for players of all ages and abilities.

We are always looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our coaching team.

We provide competitive hourly rates, regular mentoring, training, and feedback, and discounted entry to tournaments. We can also help you get qualified with our coach pathway.
