Competitions for adult beginners
If you’ve played only occasionally with friends or don’t have experience with other racket sports you might fit into the beginner category. There aren’t many competitions available at a beginner level but if you don’t mind a challenge the following events are ok.
Copper Doubles
Our Copper event a friendly doubles competition. Complete beginners might struggle but if you have a little experience and are comfortable playing doubles you’ll be fine entering the lower division.
Singles League
This runs like a mini tournament meaning there’s not much sitting off. Complete beginners might struggle but if you can move around a court and can hold a rally you’ll be fine.
Competitions for adult intermediate players
If you’ve played for a few years (not necessarily in a club or a league) you’ll likely fit into the intermediate category. You probably have some understanding of shots and tactics. Lots of intermediate players have experience with other racket sports.
There’s a large overlap between intermediate and club players which can be quite confusing. The good news is each of our events is designed to be accessible to wide variety of levels so even if you’re not sure, you’ll still be able to get good games.
Copper doubles
Our Copper event is ideal for intermediate players to play with others of the same level.
There’s two divisions, lower is suitable for anyone while upper is best for confident players.
Singles League
This runs like a mini tournament meaning there’s not much sitting off.
Each player is placed in a group with others of a similar level.
Competitions for adult club players
Club level covers a wide range of players who play regularly in clubs or league matches. You have a good understanding of tactics and how to win.
There’s a large overlap between intermediate and club players which can be quite confusing. The good news is each of our events is designed to be accessible to wide variety of levels so even if you’re not sure, you’ll still be able to get good games.

There’s two divisions and upper is recommended for regular league players.
Bronze Doubles
Bronze tournaments are suitable for club players who would like competitive and fun games against others of a similar standard.
Winning pairs compete in the A draw while losing pairs drop down to compete in the B and C draws.
Singles League
This runs like a mini tournament meaning there’s not much sitting off. It’s an easy way to get competitive singles games that you might miss at your club.
Competitions for adult county or higher players
If you’ve played for a long time and have plenty of tournament experience at a high level you’ll fit into this category. The video below gives an example of some Silver finals.
Silver Doubles
Silver events are BadmintonScotland B grade with 10,000 points. Expect tough opponents and competitive matches.
Singles League
The top division of the singles league is county level. It’s a great way to get competitive singles practice.
Competitions for junior beginners (U14)
For any young players who has recently taken up badminton!
Singles League
This runs like a mini tournament meaning there’s less sitting off (and waiting for parents).
Suitable for literally anyone if they can serve and have a rally. It’s helpful to know how to score but not required as there are helpers available.
The players in the lowest division are sometimes just 7 years old so everyone welcome.
Competitions for junior intermediate players (U14)
For any juniors with a year or two experience.

This is a mini tournament and we keep sitting off to a minimum… less waiting around for parents!
We place players with others who we think they’ll have good matches against.

For any juniors who have been training for a number of years. They should be comfortable moving around a court and playing shots.
